Reflective Writing

At the beginning of the quarter we started working on a children’s book centered around a meaningful message for kids with a fun, creative idea. We wrote our book about toys that were struggling to come to terms with the fact that their owner had moved onto playing with electronics instead of the old fashioned ones. The themes of our book were overcoming differences, conflict resolution, and managing screen time. The story is told from a third person perspective focusing primarily on the toys. I was assigned to work with two of my classmates I hadn’t spoken to before. We’d done introductions and small talk but at the time I hadn’t worked with anyone new. I was hesitant to start the project because I didn’t know the people I was working with and it seemed challenging to come up with a new creative idea. All together we were able to successfully write and illustrate a children’s book that we might consider entering into the competition. Now I feel ready to take on more seemingly intimidating projects and I know that this will help a lot with future Excel tasks because of the higher level tasks they usually require.
